I have always been interested in theory - how is movement controlled, what drive development, how are new skills acquired. I have read widely over quite a long time and have ended up knowing a little about a lot of things - but somehow instead of ideas crystalising I am becoming less sure of what I should be taking notice of and what hypotheses should be guiding my practice. Part of the problem is the explosion of theories and knowledge about development, learning and control of movement makes it difficult to keep up with all the new and exciting ideas. What I am clear about is that there is a great deal of exciting and important information that needs to be considered and incorporated into the general knowledge and theory base used by children’s physiotherapists to guide their practice. So this is what this blog is about – reflections on what I am reading and the ideas that I find exciting and important. |
